Need Forced Regen Services? Contact Albuquerque's Mobile Mechanic
When a vehicle's engine needs a forced regen service, it's a good idea to call a mechanic. A mechanic can force the regeneration process by tweaking various parameters on the car's computer. The extra fuel reacts with the soot and catalyst to burn it out. A forced regen service is also required when active regen requirements aren't met or when soot levels rise. The mechanic will use a diagnostic tool to perform the service.
Oftentimes, forced regen doesn't work at all when the DPF is overloaded. The DPF needs to be emptied every 150,000 to 200,000 miles. The same holds true when the engine has ash buildup. It's not a problem with regens, but it can be caused by problems with the fuel injectors or the turbo. The ash buildup will cause unacceptable back pressure and will need to be cleaned out.

Our Mobile Mechanic Will Diagnose Your Vehicle
When your vehicle breaks down, you should call On-Site Fleet Services to explain your issue. Your vehicle might be due for a forced regen and the mechanic will see if your car's DPF is overloaded. Generally, you should also check the DPF yearly for ash buildup. It usually occurs due to sulfated ash that accumulates in engine oil. Other sources of contamination may include fuel injector problems or turbo problems, as mentioned above.
The DPF must be cleaned every time a forced regen is needed. A DPF that is too clogged will not work. When this happens, a mechanic will have to clear the DPF with a special tool. For example, the mechanic will need a scanner to do this. The technician should be able to diagnose the DPF's soot load using a scan tool and should also be able to use a diagnostic scan tool to determine which parts need to be cleaned. Contact On-Site Fleet Services so we can perform a diagnostic on your vehicle.
